چکیده

The digital representation and publishing of human history on the web has so far been stuck at unlocking collections historical items. Those are described by metadata mostly for curation findability that put in manner a library catalog. Usually, there is little ‘aboutness’. This unfortunate, as modern representations knowledge web-based interactive presentation techniques offer ample opportunities more complex richer interaction with history. In this contribution, we argue data treated what it is: an interpretation, like all history, while remaining traceable to its information carriers.

From Objects to Events: GEM, the Geospatial Event Model

This paper discusses the construction of a modeling approach for dynamic geospatial domains based on the concepts of object and event. The paper shows how such a model extends traditional object-based geospatial models. The focus of the research is the introduction of events into the object-based paradigm, and consequent work on the classification of object-event and event-event relationships. ...

Representing Objects Using Topology

In this paper we call for the revival of the study of topological representations in computer vision. Topology allows us to express the connectivity relationships which exist between different primitives in images and in scenes. Although topology was once of significant interest in vision, it has recently become over-shadowed by geometric considerations. We believe that it has a very important ...

Representing Events in Japanese Complex Predicates

This paper presents an event semantics-based investigation of Japanese complex predicates of the form V1+V2, to clarify their syntactic and semantic constitution. The Japanese V1+V2 formation primarily exploits the aspectual modification of a core event; of particular interest here are complex predicates composed of intentional active verbs with te-form + the existential verb a-ru; this complex...

A Model for Representing Statistical Objects

In this paper the structure and the semantic properties of the entities stored in databases, whose data are only aggregate-type data, are defined and discussed. This choice is justified by the wide spread use of aggregate data without the corresponding raw data (i.e. micro-data, such as census data). Aggregate data are often derived by applying statistical aggregation (e.g. sum, count) and stat...
